Cookie Policy

Last updated: 9 June 2026

Short version: by default this site sets no cookies at all. It keeps three small entries in your browser's localStorage so your cart, currency and consent choice survive a page reload. Google's advertising and analytics cookies appear only if you click "accept" in the consent banner — and you can take that back at any time on this page.

1. Cookies vs. localStorage — what's the difference?

A cookie is a small piece of data your browser sends back to a server with every request. Because it travels over the network, a cookie can be used to recognise you across visits and — with third-party cookies — across different websites. That is what makes cookies useful for advertising, and why the law treats them carefully.

localStorage is a storage area that stays inside your browser. Nothing in it is sent anywhere automatically; a page can only read its own site's entries with JavaScript. We use localStorage for everything the shop itself needs, precisely because it stays on your device. The consent rules (the ePrivacy Directive) cover both technologies, so we list everything here either way.

2. Everything we store, in one table

This is the complete list. If it is not in this table, this site does not store it.

Name Type Purpose Category Duration
em_cart_v1 localStorage The contents of your shopping cart, so it isn't lost when you navigate or reload. Strictly necessary Persistent, until you clear it or empty your cart
em_currency_v1 localStorage Your currency preference (USD or EUR), so prices display the way you chose. Functional Persistent, until you clear it
em_consent_v1 localStorage Records your cookie consent choice and the timestamp of when you made it, so we don't show the banner on every page and can demonstrate your choice if asked. Strictly necessary Persistent, until you clear it or reset your preferences below
_ga, _ga_* Cookie (Google Analytics) Distinguishes visitors and measures how the site is used (pages viewed, where visitors came from). Measurement — only with your consent Up to 2 years (set by Google)
_gcl_au and other Google Ads cookies Cookie (Google Ads) Conversion tracking (did an ad lead to an order?) and remarketing (showing our ads to past visitors on other sites). Advertising — only with your consent Typically 90 days; varies by cookie (set by Google)

The exact names and lifetimes of Google's cookies are set by Google and change from time to time. Google documents them at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.

3. How consent works here (Google Consent Mode v2)

This site uses Google Consent Mode v2. Four consent signals control what Google may do in your browser:

  • ad_storage — may Google set advertising cookies?
  • ad_user_data — may data about you be sent to Google for advertising?
  • ad_personalization — may that data be used to personalise ads (remarketing)?
  • analytics_storage — may Google Analytics set its measurement cookies?

All four default to "denied" the moment the page loads. They switch to "granted" only if you accept in the banner, and your choice (with its timestamp) is saved in em_consent_v1. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no Google cookies are set. This applies to all visitors, with consent requested before any ads or analytics cookies are set for visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, as Google's EU User Consent Policy requires.

4. What Google does with consented data

If you consent, Google — a third-party vendor — collects and receives data such as cookie identifiers and information about your visit, and uses cookies to serve our ads on sites across the internet based on your prior visits here. You can opt out of Google's personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com, and out of many other vendors' personalized ads at optout.networkadvertising.org or youradchoices.com. The full picture of what we do with personal data is in the Privacy Policy.

5. Change your cookie choice

You can revoke or change your consent at any time. The button below deletes your saved choice and reloads the page, which makes the consent banner appear again so you can decide fresh:

Note: this resets your choice. Cookies that Google already set while you had consented remain in your browser until they expire or you delete them yourself — see the next section.

6. Deleting everything through your browser

Every browser lets you inspect and delete cookies and localStorage for a specific site:

  • Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data (or click the icon left of the address bar → "Cookies and site data").
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data.
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.

Deleting this site's data clears your cart and currency preference too — that is expected, since they live in the same place. The site will simply start fresh and ask for consent again.

7. Changes to this policy

If we add, remove or rename anything we store, we will update the table above and the "Last updated" date. We will not quietly add new tracking under an old policy.
